The Maco drive gears were commonely made by GU and were stamped with the Maco logo we have found that in a number of situations the Maco drive gear can replace the GU one as the interlocking teeth are very similar but will always be dependant on the corner gears that the original fabricator used .
The old Maco tilt turn window lock is now obsolete and no stock is left
However we have worked with our suppliers and research & development team to source and create an excellent solution so that you can repair the old existing window lock drive gear which is the part that usually fails. Just like repairing a door lock mechanism you can now replace the centre drive gear box with our unique engineered repacement gear box built to match the same specifications. The old Maco drive gears you may have will likely be obsolete and superseded with the new ones shown which are now also been phased out but still in stock!
These old Maco tilt drive gears roller cams were different and recognisible because they were oval shaped not round like the newer ones shown. However the new ones will likely still fit into the keeps but it is also usal that the keep may need moving to suit the new cams and positions. This is really easy as the keeps are simply screwed into place on the outer frame. The connection teeth should still be the same and should fit once cut down.
Lastly the anti-miss handling rocker switch on the old gears is now different so again you may need to move the striker plate that forces it to close when the window is operated in the closed position. It is not unknown for some fabricators to lock and keep these new switches in the closed position and not use them as they find them very troublesome to set up, and if the window flexes and moves can prevent the window operating.
Please note that if the switch has sprung out or you need to set it back centrally then read the following:
If you look at the rocker switch you will see a “teardrop hole” above the torx head screw which is for inserting a small thin screwdriver blade or such. You will see that the double ended black spring one of the ends has flipped out of the housing and now moves in and out with the switch to make it sprung. You need to insert the screwdriver blade through the hole and flick the spring back into the housing (as per the other side that has not moved) to hold the said spring leg in situ. Now push the rocker switch that has flipped out back into the centre and it will once more be held centrally.
