ExpertThis is the Winkhaus AV2 Heritage type auto locking door lock which has become widely used across the UK residential door market. The door lock gearbox has been raised to give the door the traditional period look to the property so that the lock cylinder has the old 2/3 vertical height to replicate the old rim cylinder that was found on timber door systems. This gives the modern composite and timber door systems that authentic look and feel to the home owner.
The door lock is still able to provide a top and bottom latch actuator that is activated as it strikes the frame keep and fires out the top and bottom hook lock bolt into the purpose made frame keep without the need to move the door handle. Therefore once the door is closed behind you the lock is automatically activated and is locked in place for security. This mechanism is often called a slam shut facility as this is what occurs once the door is closed.
The lock can then be dead locked by turning the key cylinder to throw out the centre deadbolt and lock everything in place so that the hooks cannot be retracted without the use of a key.
This door lock has become popular on the new range of composite and also timber doors. This is because the locks automatically fire into place when closed ensuring the door slab is pulled tightly into the outer frame to keep it plumb and square.
This door lock does not usually have a door handle fitted to it and instead uses a pull rim cylinder cover therefore making the door key operated so can only be opened by a key holder from the outside as an additional security feature
Screws are available as an additional item if required and are not included with this part.
