ExpertThis is the 55mm backset Winkhaus AV2 auto locking door lock version which has become widely used across the UK residential door market. The faceplate has a top and bottom latch actuator that is activated as it strikes the frame keep and fires out the top and bottom hook lock bolt into the purpose made frame keep without the need to move the door handle. Therefore once the door is closed behind you the lock is automatically activated and is locked in place for security. This mechanism is often called a slam shut facility as this is what occurs once the door is closed.
The lock can then be dead locked by turning the key cylinder to throw out the centre deadbolt and lock everything in place so that the hooks cannot be retracted without the use of a key. The lock is also compatible with the Winkhaus AV2E additional electronic motor and or Winkhaus Bluematic key fob operated that can open and close the lock mechanism when wired correctly to suit
This door lock has become popular on the new range of composite & also widely used on timber doors as the locks automatically fire into place when closed ensuring the door slab is pulled tightly into the outer frame to keep it plumb and square.
Screws are available as an additional item if required and are not included with this part.
