- Sold in 6 metre quantity increments and will be supplied in a continious length. For example, if you order a quantity of x2 then you will receive 12 metres. A quantity of x3 would be 18 metres and so on upto a maximum of 550 linear metres (a quantity of x92). Increments shorter than 6 metres are not available.

The Everbuild foam gap filler backer rod sponge insulation is a purpose made material designed to seal properties. It is used widely in the construction industry to seal joints to control sealant depth and create a backstop to allow appropriate sealant tooling.
Using this material allows sealants to be easily applied and prevents the silicone sealant falling into the gap without creating an insulated and weather tight seal.
Fitting Tip:
To install the rod, you can use your fingers or a smooth rounded ended tool to push it into the gap, leaving the finished surface approximately 5-mm back from the front edge of the face of the gap. This will allow the silicone to adhere to both the rod and the two edges of the structure it has been injected into.
This makes for a total seal and the foam would flex during temperature changes due to weather conditions. It proves to be a worthwhile product to overcome issues when sealing gaps with silicone.
The foam backer rod is sold in 6 metre quantity increments and are shipped as a single, continuous length. 6 metres will generally go around either the opening door sash or, alternatively, the outer frame of a standard size Upvc door system.
