Its not often we are left scratching our heads at Spares4repairs and we do see some strange things that have been fitted over the last 40 plus years to windows and doors. However, when the enquiry came in for a euro door cylinder 100mm internal and 35mm external “Oh and by the way it needs to be a thumb turn type” our first reaction was “sorry you must have measured that wrong”.

As we got further into the conversation it was explained this was for a children’s local charity and was to secure their bedroom balcony doors, we knew we needed to go that extra mile to help.

The cylinders were to be fitted to purpose made thermally efficient timber doors that are externally cladded with Aluminium hence the unusually thick front to back dimensions.

We contacted our group of door cylinder manufacturers who all, but one shook their head and said sorry too big to be made. However, the one who did respond positively said yes it can be engineered however it will take up to 6 weeks and will need ordering from overseas.

Suffice to say that was not an issue and we received the part in 4 weeks and the workmanship was first class and our client is over the moon with the finished product.
