Note: Maco used this type of gearbox on their original door locks but have later (since approx. Mid 2010) updated the gearing system over the last few years. 5STK followed by a combination of numbers was often stamped on the gearbox label and if yours has this on it there is a good chance it is a match. However, a comparison of the detailed dimension drawing in our page listing will be able to confirm this or not against your existing lock. The numbers that follow the 5STK were relevant to the type and combination of lock points and backset dimensions used by Maco has internal company batch codes but share the same gearbox as per our listing.
Some versions were labelled 5ST & 5 STK Also some versions had 56231 but there were also many other combinations on the label.
Please check all the dimensions on the detailed dimension drawing (see under the main picture) and pay particular attention to the screw fixing dimensions as the old version and new version positions are different.
Note: when reversing the latch do not move the spindle once the latch is removed, otherwise you will activate the spring and base retaining plate which will jump out of its housing, this will prevent lock from been operable. If you do this the only way to re-set this is to take the gearbox cover off and put it back in place. This is a fiddly job, so please be careful. Once the latch is back in place and clicked home this will not occur.
