ExpertThe Fuhr tipsafe tilt turn drive gears are a popular and robust window lock mechanism widely used by the industry over the last few decades. You may find that your specific window lock mechanism is also a Fuhr tilt turn drive gear with similiar dimensions and markings stamped on the faceplate and as long as you ascertain the correct size range required the new Fuhr tipsafe drive mechanism should be compatible and will connect to the top and bottom corners and operate the window just the same.
N:B the dimension shown as sash rebate height is always taken from the top corner to the bottom corner of the sash I:E where the gearing wraps round at the top and bottom of the opening sash. It is not the actual length of the drive gear which will always be shorter as it connects to the top and bottom drive corners.

The fixed pin is only fitted to the two largest sizes and can be ignored if wanted and is only used as a lifting pivot point on extremly large windows or patio doors
The drive gear is easily cut to length with an hacksaw and then is fitted into the top and bottom corner connections.
Fitting tip:
Sit the old drive gear on top of the new one and mark each end to give you the correct dimension.
The Fuhr tilt turn drive gears come with the lock in the central open position. Inside the gearbox Fuhr position the gear with some break off burrs inside the lock to prevent the lock moving whilst it is cut down to length to suit the particular patio. On first operation it will feel like the lock is jammed but as you exert some force on the handle you will find the burrs break off and the lock will now run free from here on in.
